I forgot to post the results of this after it went at Desert Bus this year, but the Minecraft tokens and signed playmats I put together raised over two thousands dollars for Child's Play!

Shouting into the void: Commander decks over the years have featured oversized commanders, which I don't get, and thick commanders, the same size as the actual commander card. But since they can do an alternate, not-legal commander, could we start getting some lenticular cards or something neat?

What's the most absurd hoop you've jumped through in a game of Magic, just for laughs or to style on the table with something amazing? I'm thinking back to an April Fools acorn commander game where my buddy pulled off Battle of Wits by bringing multiple other decks into the game and combining them.

Hear me out: for Universes Beyond, keep the ones that really don't have a Magic vibe like Spider-Man or Doctor Who to commander decks, scene boxes, and the like. While I don't *love* UB in standard, mostly due to the prices, I don't mind as much if we get, say, Elder Scrolls rather than Marvel.

I know this isn't a great card early game, but I'm still kind of surprised that this card doesn't see more play. I only ran across this because of its new printing.

A few weeks ago, I wrapped up MarcCon 2025, a mini Magic convention I organized for my 40th birthday. A secret goal I set for myself: dust off my CE Black Lotus and surprise slam it in its first in-game appearance… but only by copying a friend’s Garth One-Eye commander. I did it!

Rankle’s obnoxiously mismatched manabase update. Each and every swamp must tilt someone somehow. It has become an exercise in creativity. If 1 is “white-bordered”, and 10 is “Black Lotus but sharpied over to say Swamp”, I think I’m operating at like 2-6. We can go deeper.

So, acetone on foils, huh? 😁 I tried it on a few just to learn things and see what else I’d need to learn or buy. Do they make precision cotton swabs? Some of the lines are tricky even with tape. This is foil, foil, etched, galaxy, and turns out DFT yellow is just normal foil underneath.

I'm this deep into planning the next two quarters of MtG events at Mojang and think to myself, "Wait is this just work??" 😂

I’d love to meet some other regular Magic event organizers, especially unsanctioned or not tied to stores. Swap organization and promotion tips, that sort of thing. Know anyone? For my part, I run a small weekly EDH night, monthly drafts, a quarterly 16 person sealed league, and used to run cons.

Lmao wizards continues to not want my money, despite trying to throw it at them. No FF secret lair or collector boosters for me, no commander decks. And aside from the events I run, no play boosters for me either. Was my most anticipated set of the year, too. Squeezed the joy out of this release.

I've spent a LOT of time tonight ordering 25 custom playmats. Finished at GamerMats, found out they don't ship to EU, despite allowing the address earlier in the process. Switched to InkedGaming, all of their shipping options are more than A MONTH. Does anyone have a good EU playmat printer? 😭

Assuming that you play Talion on turn four, you can play another non-legendary Talion on each of your following turns, and the game goes long... what order are you picking the numbers 1-10?

The world feels like it’s falling apart but all I want to do is play games with my friends and discuss the custom dice, tokens, and other gaming paraphernalia I use to add just a tiny bit more joy and understanding to our sessions. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hooboy, I am not loving the Final Fantasy cards that are both reskins and pre-existing screenshots from games. It’s good that we get more cards in a setting we might not return to, but everything being old makes it feel cheap, like you can see behind the production and remember it’s just cardboard.

@gavinverhey.bsky.social Hey Gavin! Brackets- good so far! But one thing I've found that might not work as well is the comparison to precons. I think I understand how WotC builds them (often doing two different things, room to add and grow), but not everyone can guage precons without owning one.

@moxfield.com Yo! Could we get a feature sometime that sorts by number of tags applied to cards? That way when you’re looking to cut, you can start with the cards with just one tag, and know to ignore cards with five tags because those cards do ALL the things your deck wants to do.

I want to find the team that made this and tell them what a good job they did. Mashing up two brands is hard, and the way this uses both and then flows from a realistic to a comic style is just great.
