Not sure if this is a done thing - but DID YOU KNOW, you can convert photogrammetry models to GIS analyses? 🫠 i.e., you can scan the surface of rock art - then analyse it like you would a landscape. So, slope, hillshade, local relief. Seems extremely useful... 🤔 #3D #archaeoogy #prehistory 🏺

A few recent bunk “discoveries” have convinced me that drawing alignment lines on maps is usually bad practice. Sites were often aligned with physical features (e.g. entrances or avenues), but you can find alignments to landscape features pretty much anywhere… 🧐 #archaeology

I don't want to poo-poo things too early. But, before people get excited, I believe this is just speculation. That hillside is littered with scree boulders down from Side Pike (highlighted). And recumbent stone circles don't exist in Cumbria (or even South Scotland!). #StandingStoneSunday
