To be clear: Attiah isn’t so concerned with promoting exotic sounding words, but why a category of crime that’s far more common than “patricide” doesn’t have a descriptor that’s in everyone’s vocabulary.

The Accessibility Problem Isn't Design. It's Engineering. Chris Gibbons argues that designers can document all the accessible components they want; in most companies, full stack developers don’t know how to actually implement them.

Accessibility failures aren't design oversights - they're engineering failures. The full-stack hiring trend, AI-generated code with no context, and a compliance-first mentality have combined to create a crisis hiding in plain sight. Here's what's actually going wrong, and what fixing it actually looks like.

I work in some repos that have Claude Code enabled for PR reviews as an initial first review. My problem with it for accessibility work is that it (so far) gets the suggest about 90% right, but that last 10% is confidently wrong. If you don't know how it's wrong you'd end up with just another issue.

It’s absolutely incredible that one of the largest Japanese-run Go servers, which has been running since 1992, is still accessed entirely via Telnet. And while most players use GUI clients that use Telnet under the hood, you can still connect manually and get ASCII graphics streamed to you

People say 'the work speaks for itself'. Maybe that's true for some things, but it is never true in organizing. You absolutely need to share the work, often and always. There are new people coming of age daily and also most organizing is not visible to most people.

You probably wouldn't publish an article filled with mistakes, so don't do it with transcripts or video captions, either. Auto-transcription services can be a great starting point, but that's what they are: a starting point. They still need editing to be publication ready.

It's always interesting how the U.S. MSM runs around accusing others (specifically Muslims of waging *Holy* wars) but the Christofascists in charge of the US government aren't apparently waging *Holy* war. I haven't seen a single mainstream media mention of this. Drudge has framed this war correctly

Links need more than just a color change to distinguish them. If your solution is `font-weight: 500`, don’t be surprised when you get dinged for 1.4.1 Use of Color. `500` often renders no differently than the default (`400`). It’s adversarial conformance. Use an underline.

Automatic captions make it difficult to watch videos because the viewer is forced to decipher misspelled or mistranslated words that appear in a string of text without any punctuation. These can be distracting and disorienting. Always edit your captions before publishing.

If you’re trying to save up an emergency fund (6-12 months’ salary), look into opening a high yield savings account (HYSA). You can open these accounts with online-only banks and make a much higher APY than traditional savings accounts.
