I’m reading Feed by M. T. Anderson with my English class right now, and this feels like something straight out of the story. Such a gut punch.

When I was a congregation heads we were specifically told we could not make any official statements regarding George Floyd's murder and TST would not rush to make a comment.

It’s not a surprise that The Satanic Temple couldn’t be bothered to have anything to say about all sorts of violence related to anti-Black racism, transphobia, or retaliation for pro-Palestinian speech by fed/state governments, but TST did quickly come out to say this. This is just what they are.

Now, “Lucien Greaves” *usually* has a sneering contempt for members of The Satanic Temple who expect him to denounce frivolous stuff unrelated to TST’s mission (as Misicko defines it). Just see his Substack. It would’ve been fine for him to let the Charlie Kirk death pass by, too. But he didn’t.

If you join and then leave the abusive organization that is The Satanic Temple, you risk being subjected to a smear campaign. It’s a year after I left, and I’m still being accused of theft. They won’t specify what they claim I stole, but that doesn’t stop them from repeating the allegation.

I walked outside this morning to the most beautiful spider web. My fig trees are about six feet apart, and it spans between them. The spider itself is resting right in the center of the web. When the lighting is better, I’ll try to get a picture. It’s just so huge!

Matewan also has a lot of Hatfield/McCoy memorabilia. The Walking Tour did a great job at putting it into perspective when it could be so easily cheapened the way the media spinner and exploited the whole feud in the first place.

Matewan was a great place to visit. The Mine Wars Museum and local walking tour is run by wonderful, knowledgeable folks who treat the history with the deepest respect. If you have any interest in labor history or radical history, this place should be on your list.

In case you think that The Satanic Temple is going to fix the rise of theocracy in the public realm (eg. 10 Commandments in public schools), I want to remind you that TST can't fix their own problems of being a horribly run organization that treats its own members with contempt.

This is what I have been trying to articulate since I quit working for The Satanic Temple (and was then excommunicated). The most likely outcome of TST's legal strategies is that tiny minority religions are just declared not "real" religions. There is no "one weird trick" to defeating theocracy.

San Marzano tomato plant is now significantly taller than myself. Holy shit, that's a big tomate. My LSU Gold fig is making a goddamn bumper breba crop and I am here for it. So are the grackles, but that's okay because I can share.

I was all cranky because my passion vine had dropped several blossoms without fruiting, but now I have a large green fruit on the vine. Hell yeah. My San Marzano plant is now a gigantic monster and its tomatoes are nice little plummy guys.

Picked my first tomato yesterday, a San Marzano. The plant is enormous and full of little green plummy guys. Got a couple of Tasmanian Chocolate tomatoes this morning. It's been so long since I'd done any gardening, that I'd forgotten how fun tomatoes are.

My Maypop passion vine is so tall it's exceeded its trellis, so I'm training it to curve around more. Its bottom leaves are all going yellow, so I fed it more. I hope that helps. My Sunrise fig cutting-that-is-now-a-proper-tree looks fucking fantastic, despite some sunburn that is all my fault.

I up-potted my Hâtive d'Argenteuil cutting into a more long-term sized pot. Apparently I am bad at hardening off fig trees, because it's rather cranky, so I'm sheltering it in the half-light of the porch. The Cherry Cordial fig is in the ground now, and has a touch of sunburn. Oops, my bad.
