Watched Stray Dog (1949) earlier, the first Kurosawa I’ve seen that wasn’t set in a historical period. Although ironically it is now an interesting window into the post-war Tokyo of the bygone era in which it was made. Sadly, ACAB includes Murakami and Sato 😢

I watched Violent Cop. Everyone on Letterboxd compares it to Dirty Harry but I haven’t seen Dirty Harry so for me it was more like Beverley Hills Cop meets Carlito’s Way. It relies more on emotion and tension to raise the audience’s heart rate than bombast. Overall a disturbing but good time
