The Iowa State University Nursing program has just announced its launch of the nation’s first RN-to-BSN program with no cost for course materials. 100% of the nursing curriculum uses #OER: free adaptable learning materials developed and shared by experts across the US and beyond.

This morning, I am late to my first #OpenEd25 session of Day 3, "Developing a Comprehensive Undergraduate Open Science-Open Pedagogy Program" by Karen Cangialosi. I did catch a great quote, though: "Science supports democracy, and democracy supports science."

An #openEd25 side discussion (in a lively chat window) about generative "AI" and accessibility led me to write that Universal Design for Learning is ultimately a better tool for accessibility (at least in education) than genAI. Feeling pretty sure I'm going to stand by that for years to come.

Next up at the end of Day 2 for #OpenEd25, I'm attending "'Thank You for All You Do': Celebrating Faculty Contributions in Open Education" from David Tully and Katya Mueller from NCSU!

I’ve noticed an uptick in dismissals of the concerns of teachers about AI. Some say that it’s *their* job to find a way to evaluate work that AI can’t replicate. I would just ask that you talk to real teachers and really listen. I’d also suggest reading a bit about writing and the brain.
