DC Comics fans also know Supermanās costume was made of the invulnerable blankets from Krypton he was wrapped in in his capsule. Ma Kent unraveled āem and made the suit and cape, and Superbaby Clark severed threads as needed with heat vision. Thatās how it REALLY happened.

I guess itās worth noting what DC Comics fans already knew; the new Supergirl film indirectly settles the earring issue in the first 4 minutes. She obviously got her ears pierced on a planet with a red sun.

Supergirl is maybe a little Guardians of the Galaxy with Kara Zoe-El in it, with a dash of Furiosa, but I found it enjoyable. Good to have it atypical and work its way to Supergirl. Maybe coulda used a little more Lobo. Thought Milly Alcock was great.

Vintage paperbacks from my early reading life. I first read Lawrence Block in his Writer's Digest column and happened to pick up an Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine around the same time with his fab story "A Candle for the Bag Lady." One book led to another.

I've probably become best known for Gnelfs, especially in recent years. It's been reissued with Paperbacks from Hell-era cover art. In Gnelfs, there's a mention of the historical character Matthew Laird, a Crowley acolyte. His legacy becomes important in my newest novel, A Disturbance of Shadows.

Since those Doc Savage books seemed to be of interest and generated some conversation, here are a couple of editions of Quest of Qui and a Phantom City, showing Doc in different climes. Those are July 1976 Bantam re-issues with $1.25 cover price. James Bama covers on the Bantams.

Actually, Dent wrote The Red Terrors. Now, he may have fixed up a Davis manuscript, but as a semi-sequel to his Mystery Under the Sea, it was probably Dent. Plus, the manuscript has his name on it...

Iāve been sifting through my paperback reissues of pulp novels of late. Fans know Lester Dent actually wrote Doc Savage under the Kenneth Robeson āhouse name,ā mostly. But details are tricky. Dent wrote The Evil Gnome on the left. The Red Terrors on the right was written by Harold A. Davis.

I'm not going to be able to leave my house a few days this week due to street repaving, unless, ironically, I park my car on a parkway and walk to it. Gonna just risk it. Nothing bad ever happened in a setting where people were isolated and the road was out.
