Bluesky is undoubtedly less toxic a place than Twxitter, but I find the psychological effect of using either is much the same: a noxious depression and pessimism. I think this form of social media has outlived its usefulness.

Saw a screening of a few of David Lynch’s short films. I miss seeing art made viscerally, cheaply, and for a small messy audience. It actually makes the world feel bigger and more interesting. Mass appeal shrinks it all down. Shit inspired me. Glad I saw it.

In 1945 HG Wells wrote that increased information flows (daily newspapers, Pathé news reels etc) contributed to the rise of authoritarian politics because people could no longer sustain simple narratives of reality under such a barrage of information.
