Got to celebrate @silashouse.bsky.social's fab new poetry collection ALL THESE GHOSTS last night--champagne, cake, friends. Had the opposite of a stress dream after, in which Dolly Parton assured me that I was going to finish my book very soon and gave me a delicious cookie shaped like her head.

Long weekend is for continuing to deadline like the wind--with breaks for friends, movies, sunshine. Last night, @joshaboldt.bsky.social and I took a magic hour stroll in Lexington's newest park, which has a free library stand and he found an Elmore Leonard he didn't already own. Auspicious.

I opened the new issue of Kentucky Monthly Magazine this morning, and look what I saw. Love it!

Sometimes I scroll through my BlueSky to see how long I've been working on a draft. I'm sure there's a better way to do that, but it's fun to see how many words I had on a certain date in the past. On that note, 54,000 on the current WIP.

The Kentucky Equal Justice Center is shutting down at the end of July in the wake of a federal freeze on grants and loans from the Trump administration.

Here at WUKY, Lexington's NPR affiliate, the CPB cuts will result in a 13% reduction in the station's budget, which translates to between $120,000 and $150,000.

I am in the querying process for my newest novel. Looking for agents or publishers who like books with non-traditional plots. The story is a blend of southern gothic, mystery, crime, literary, and romance. If you know someone, I would love to meet them. I want to find a home for this novel!

I mean, how could I not buy it? It tastes great too.

As of this morning, my new novel is finally (maybe?) finished! I'm waiting for the @gwenda.bsky.social stamp of approval, and then we start finding a home for it. It has a crime element like my others, but this one leans more Southern Gothic and literary with a dose of philosophy & psychology.
