We need full proper council tax reform, as well as the announced mansion tax. It is insane that we base it on perceived property values in 1991!

On the one hand, this is the perfect end to an amazingly chaotic Budget process. On the other, it makes it much easier to cover than having to actually listen to the speech.

This feels like OBR forecast figures fiddling than a permanent policy. Which still sucks btw, but there's years for someone to change their mind

What I would say is quite interesting about the OBR leaking the forecast is that there isn't actually much in there that hadn't already been leaked anyway? I might be wrong, but anything significant was in the FT a week ago.

If Rachel Reeves doesn’t use her traditional right to drink an alcoholic drink from the despatch box when she’s delivering a Budget we’ll all fucking detest, I’ll seriously question her judgement. It’s going to suck, why not make it easier on yourself?

Such disingenuous nonsense from the Tories - who fully supported the Cass Review last year and are now u-turning on that support. The Overton window shifts further and further to the right and trans people continue to pay the price. This is why we shouldn’t give an inch to transphobes.

Wednesday’s Budget is going to go down like a cup of cold sick, I feel. I’m hoping there’ll be some unannounced individual measures that are genuinely progressive - but very little of what I’ve seen so far is suggesting that to be the case. Annoying that once again it’s been dripping speculation.

Shabana Mahmood is an avatar of open Britain – that’s what makes her fable about immigration so seductive | Nesrine Malik

All the transphobes telling on themselves by now saying the Cass Review shouldn’t have recommended a puberty blockers trial You had no idea what was in the Review! It’s all anti-trans bigotry and always has been. And people claiming puberty blockers are physical castration prove they have no clue.

I’m fucking sick of the Terminally Ill Adults Bill being filibustered. People deserve the choice in death Many amendments are done for filibuster purposes, not scrutiny This should be an individual choice for the terminally ill

The summary of the latest COVID inquiry report is so stark - lockdown could have been avoided altogether if better decisions were made. There must be accountability for those who decisions and lessons NEED to be learned.
