Honoured to introduce Mayor
@jeromyyyc.bsky.social
at Wednesday’s
@calgaryeconomic.bsky.social
Report to Community. Went a bit off script—but I believe in standing up for what’s right. Our city and province need future-focused leadership. Thank you, Mayor Farkas, for speaking out.

Calgary Mayor Jeromy Farkas came out with some pretty strong words against Alberta separation — and in favour of immigration as a strength for the city — in his remarks at a Calgary Economic Development event yesterday:

Over the past few weeks, crews have worked around the clock (through snow and shine), to make the necessary reinforcement repairs to the Bearspaw Feeder Main. Calgarians really stepped up by saving water - helping crews keep the work moving and getting us to listing restrictions today.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for… all water restrictions are officially lifted. 🙌 The feeder main is filled, water quality testing is complete, and the pipe has been reconnected to the rest of the water distribution system.

Calgary mayor Jeromy Farkas (sporting a duck tie) says the city has been living in a new reality since the feeder main broke on Dec 30. He says the reinforcements don’t mean the city is out of the woods, and the city cannot afford to become complacent.

Let’s reset our green streak and get back on track! Yesterday’s water demand was 506 million litres (ML), putting us in the risky red zone. Every shortened shower and every full load of laundry and dishes helps take the pressure off our system while the feeder main reinforcement continues.

The Bearspaw Feeder Main is now offline for essential maintenance. While crews carry out this critical work, Calgarians can help by conserving water. Small actions across our city make a big difference. Let’s work together and keep Calgary’s water system strong.

The provincial government is imposing the largest property tax increase in Calgary’s history. Calgarians are facing more than double the increase of Edmonton. +$339 per home in Calgary. +$154 in Edmonton. Albertans deserve a system that is transparent, balanced, and fair.

These slop accounts are garbage. City council did NOT extend transfer window. They asked admin to start work on it + report back in Apr for council to decide. Accounts like these scrape headlines, have 100,000+ followers & often get it wrong. Meanwhile legit news orgs are banned by Meta. 🤦🏻♂️
