I was joined by community leaders today to proclaim February as Black History Month. Here & across Canada, we celebrate the achievements, culture, and leadership of Black communities, past & present. We also recognize the ongoing work to confront racism, remove barriers, and ensure we all belong.

In addition to our frontline crews working 24/7 to fix the pipe, I want to thank the City of Calgary comms team. They’ve been on site producing near real-time photos, videos, and clear updates so Calgarians know what’s happening and why. I couldn’t provide these updates without them.

For centuries, cities have been planned by and for able-bodied, gainfully-employed men. Feminist urban planning isn’t proposing the opposite, but a model that considers all stages of human life, from infancy to old age, without giving greater importance to the productive-work stage.
