Tsuchida Kosho has some interesting thoughts about streamlining scoring for riichi mahjong to make it more accessible and easier to follow. Doing away with fu entirely and scoring han at 2000 points (3000 for dealer) each. Just simple math, no memorizing tables or anything like that.

ive been thinking about how to teach mahjong to new players in the spirit of the netrunner teaching decks (omit some of the mechanics so they can actually start playing sooner, even if it screws with the metagame a little)
