I’m reading the book “The Year 1000” (which pretty much is about exactly what it says on the tin) and although I have some qualms about framing, it really is a decent pop intro to the world in 1000. The chapter on the Americas was pretty cool, and I see there is a chapter on SE Asia and Oceania too!
