I get my new orthotic tomorrow & I have shoes arriving. The orthotic should give me stability and the ability to start running again after my amputation. Meanwhile, I need to bring my legs back to parity. First bike ride was this weekend and I felt how weak my leg is.

When operation midway blitz started, the term “detained” was used to describe federal agents taking ppl. There has been a shift in the language being used among rapid responders and Chicagoans. Abduction/kidnapped feels more accurate bc there are no warrants, no badged agents, no due process.

I printed these weeping angels yesterday and placed the weeping figure on my son’s desk. He asked who did it and my wife and I denied knowing about it. It made 2 more appearances today in my son’s spaces. I just got home from lunch and found it on my desk. The game is on. Don’t blink. #weepingangels

My son runs down a list of things he needs to know for his chemistry exam. He says “Avogadros number.” I said, “I think it’s unlisted.” He says he gets it but people his age never used a Yellow Pages. In that moment I realized that my sense of comedic timing is off by about 30 years. #dadjokes

Magnolias are blooming. The trees have good wood for making furniture. Most wood from magnolias is sapwood. The dark heartwood is very hard and near the center of the log. I’d rather just inhale the fragrance of the blossoms but trees fall over and I’m lucky to rescue this wood from the landfill.
