The cherry season's starting in CA's San Joaquin Valley. Workers are getting ready to start picking for the day. "I hope this will be a good season. I worry it will start raining and the fruit will go bad like it did last year and I won't be able to earn a salary."

I know fans don't like this but if you ever played organized basketball you know for player drawing a cheap foul is super fun. Like, it's hard to keep a straight face when you actually get the whistle. And if it ends up being consequential? The best.

The "what no one tells you about" or "no one talks about" genre of framing is kinda irritating, IMO.

TBH this is better than a network late night show. No obnoxious commercials. Interesting and charismatic guests. Only thing they promoted was a very valuable free grief counseling service.

Couldn’t someone just make a new search engine that returns links to websites? I mean, the origin story of Google-era startups was based on fact it only takes small group of people to start company that becomes globally successful.

I’d be embarrassed to spend this much. Half fun of road trip is bragging after how little you spent mapping every Costco for hot dog stops, leveraging parks and libraries for breaks, packing perfect cooler and camp stove meals you can whip up on the tailgate. Anyone can just spend more money.

Ida B. Wells-Barnett showed how good work and commitment can coexist with wanting to be known. Wrote her autobiography––posthumously brought to publication by her daughter––cuz of marginalization by colleagues and youth didn’t know her. Like Wemby said, “Being too humble is going to hold you back.”

This guy says he went to Harvard but I question if he even went to college. If he did he'd know easy A's are a precious resource. No one is like "dang this class is too easy, now I've got too much extra time for coffee shops and bars."

TBH I kinda like it that people can just turn off replies and quote posts. If someone wants to pop off and isn’t interested in my two cents I appreciate they can effectively say so up front.

I'll just note that critical race theory predicts quite a lot about the current racial retrenchment and for being *correct* it was pilloried in the press and by some academics.

Counter point. Legislators and elected executives should be paid median wage or less of area they represent and be barred from outside sources of income. They can apply for TANF and SNAP if they need it. Let them experience life as regular constituents.

The most pointlessly angst-triggering genre of post across all social platforms — admittedly subjective — to me is genre I call, “Stating bad thing we all have known for long time is bad thing is, indeed, bad thing.” It activates angst muscle without moving convo forward.

Do you even know DC is called Chocolate City to us? There's debate about if that still holds since our numbers decreased so with gentrification. At one point we were like upwards of 70% of DC. Only Black faces on the street. It'll always be Chocolate City in my heart! Understand us as a Black city.

I also don’t get why any D-side fed pol wouldn’t support DC statehood. It would be two Senate seats right there. If DC statehood is an issue that will make someone vote against you that person probably isn’t voting for you anyway.

Thing is even if you are driving and even if you are going to someplace on Market you don’t need to drive on Market. There are cross streets. Also, I’d say driving is the least convenient, most expensive way to get to someplace on Market.

Every draconian white supremacist ruling out of the south, that's a minority of rich whites oppressing the Black masses that are part of those places. It's not for you to look to centering these nasty racists. It's for you to get that they're impacting millions of real Black people & center them.
