Bouie apparently has a long history of misogyny in general towards both trans & cis women. So while he does seem disproportionately reactionary towards trans women as of late, he is, at the least, potentially consistent in this prejudice.

It's really weird watching a Jamelle Bouie discourse that doesn't mention the original Jamelle Bouie shit which is that after October 7th he just shut the fuck up about Palestine until 2024 when mainstream Democrats started saying it was ok to talk about Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

The big accounts know what they're doing. It's a tried and true social media strategy, that always ends with overwhelming support for the account(s) in question, preserving their public reputations and social base, and silencing everyone else with less ppl to help prevent context collapse.

As a trans woman of color living through a genocide, I am begging you to understand that trans people being mean to NYT writers is not the problem Black and brown trans people are worried about right now. Please try to examine the situation, and see how these points hurt trans women of color.

The extermination pushed against trans women hits our black and brown sisters the worst… there’s (another) potential serial killer of black trans women in florida right now. But we have to be concerned about the comfortable NYT journo right now?

Black trans women are THE MOST marginalized and at risk members of our community, so of COURSE she was left out of the conversation like that. Typical.

As a Black trans woman, watching what happened with Jamelle Bouie’s amplification of that private exchange has been painful. It felt like a small, vulnerable conversation was weaponized and put into the public sphere without context, and the predictable result was harassment and harm.

Displace millions, disrupt energy access, instill austerity and then turn around and blame immigrants, LGBTQ people, or whatever scapegoat they want and the far right can use the chaos to gain power. That's always been the playbook.

Imagine someone saying “black cis men are still cis men so they can’t criticize trans women”, this is nonsense That trans woman was having a convo with a black trans woman, they didnt tag him, he namesearched & boosted a screenshot of it. She got death threats and revenge porn over it

When your state makes daily life legally unsafe, “just stay and fight” isn’t always realistic. For some of us, relocating isn’t dramatic — it’s survival.
