Every year #NCTE25 fills my cup. Long time friends and new ones, plans for future collaborations, and thousands on thousands of steps🤗

Every decade, we hear "the kids can't read or write!" Interventions that don't work are proposed. Those that do work are ignored: reducing class sizes, making kids & families feel safe at school and welcome, becoming a community resource. When their expensive reform fails, they yell at us again.

Beyond grateful for the opportunity to reconnect (and learn Bluesky). Thanks to all who attended and I can't wait for futrue collaborations. #literacies

A6: I agree! I imagine classrooms where every learner’s language, identity, and creative expression are valued as part of meaning-making. Our task is to enact that future now through scholarship, pedagogy, and community that foreground connection over compliance. #literacies

Q6: What #literacies futures are you envisioning that we can work toward in the present?

We can wear our @elpatronhimself.bsky.social #literacies hoodies :) on the field trips

A3: #literacies has connected me with educators who remind me that literacy is collective work. These dialogues have shaped my teaching, mentorship, and collaborations across classrooms and communities.

A1. Fall of 2011, I tweeted something about new literacies and @anna-phd.bsky.social responded. And a friendship and the #literacies chat was born! We ran the chat for years before we ever met in person!
