221 years ago, on the 2nd of December 1804, Napoleon crowned himself Emperor of the French at Notre Dame Cathedral. The 'Crown of Charlemagne' used previously had been destroyed during the revolution. 48 years later to the day, Napoleon III became Emperor.

804 years ago, on the 24th of Novemeber 1221, Genghis Khan defeated the Khwarazmian prince Jalal al-Din, completing the Mongol conquest of central Asia. The defeated Jalal al-Din managed to establish a small state in India after the defeat.
