This is BS. My office (“far left prosecutor” per the GOP) is prosecuting this case and it would have been a crime regardless of which gender bathroom — or a parking lot for that matter. Elected leaders weaponizing what these victims went through for political purposes is its own depravity.

I see this, and all the this-means-war posts, and Fox hosts calling for involuntary lethal injection for homeless people, and I worry that we’re plunging towards realistic scenarios that are darker than anyone wants to acknowledge.

1/2Today CJ Roberts allowed ICE to take race into account in detaining people. The same court lectured the country a few months ago that it’s an affront to the 14th amendment for universities to take race into account in admitting students. J Sotomayor got it right when she said this in dissent:

Crime is at its lowest in 55 years and yet the Democratic Party is running away from reforms. It’s mind boggling that the party won’t even embrace abolishing cash bail, which is the easiest case to make: no one should be in jail just because they can’t afford to buy their way out.

The fact that #SCOTUS hasn't yet ruled in Abrego Garcia isn't proof of *how* the justices are going to rule. But the longer it takes, the more it suggests that there isn't a majority of the Court who views this dispute with the same *urgency* that so many of us do. And that's a problem unto itself.
