The Bonaparte's Gull did the decent thing this afternoon and showed up at the 4pm feed, sumptuous views of a mighty fine looking gull. It was only a matter of time before myself or @swannerysteve.bsky.social turned one up, a much deserved find for a dedicated patch watcher!

Killdeer at Chapel Amble, Cornwall. (4th April ‘26). A county tick for me. It’s the 5th county record. The first was way back in 1957 and the last was 2002, when a one-day bird was found at Gwithian. An incredible find by Shaun Grose as he also found the recent Ross’s Gull👍 #cornwallbirding

A sunny but windy day in Cornwall. 3 Chough flew over Sennen Harbour and 5 Sandwich Terns offshore. 3 Swallows at Pendeen.

Dusky Thrush (1st summer female), Margate Cemetery, May 2013 With less than a dozen UK records at the time (and few if any 'collectable') this 4 day bird was popular if somewhat controversial, with the warm plumage tones hinting at potential mixed parentage. A relief when it was accepted! #Twitching

A rare visit to Farmoor this morning with it feeling like a ‘Farmoor Day’. Stunning Adult Med Gull in field opposite the garage then Little Gull and a fly through Sand Martin. The long staying Scaup still on F1.

A first winter Bonaparte’s Gull was found at Marazion beach, in front of the Godolphin hotel on Sun 15th March. It was still present 16th and I saw it well with several Black-headed Gulls. Whether it is a wandering bird or a new one is difficult to say. There’s a few around! #cornwallbirding

First Brimstone’s of the year in Bicester early afternoon

Common Nighthawk, Sept 2022, Oxfordshire Urban twitches can be legendary & fondly recalled later in #birding folklore. One such was the one day Nighthawk at Wantage that sat on a garden fence behind some parked cars as hundreds of enthusiasts hastily changed plans for their day and made pilgrimage.

Ross’s Gull at Newlyn, Cornwall this morning (22nd Feb 2026). Found on the 21st in Newlyn harbour by Shaun Grose. This is the 9th for Cornwall and my fourth. The last record was in 2020 when an adult was found at Gerrans Bay on 1st Jan. #cornwallbirding #ukbirding
