Read this book “Commodore Amiga The Stolen Future” over the weekend while sick with stomach flu. Pretty good summary of the Amiga demo era. Not entirely accurate in places, but close enough. Some of my best teenage years in writing. Probably a factor in me moving to the Nordics too. #gamedev

So maintaining a game engine’s tools and tech stack is hard and you need to pay good people proper money to do the work, and that’s why some industry leaders in #gamedev have had enough of it and want to move on to slop content generation via datacenters. How’s that for a summary?

Once a year I like to reflect on my privilege, growing up. Can I pick out one simple thing that I had access to that was an incredible privilege? Last week I remembered that in high-school, we started with 1x oscilloscope per class, and by the time I left we had 1x oscilloscope per student.

Once a year, I re-assess why I work in the AAA video games space. It is still to push the medium in a such a way that the savvy audience question how it could have been achieved - To capture that audience’s imagination in a such a way that they question everything they know about games. #gamedev
