Following up on my very intense weekend. One of my favorite things over race weekends is getting to pace. I get to distract folks from the challenge of the race, encourage them, and often help them cross a finish line for the first time. It's a very special kind of magic.

I don't talk about running here as often as perhaps I ought to. But it's been a rough night. On the way down to run at Disney, I found out that Jeff Galloway, Olympian, and the man whose methods got me into running, passed away. This is going to be an intense weekend.

Pace #4 done and dusted. Hardest marathon I've ever done. So hot and humid Disney actually cut the course a little. I almost quit. Several times. I seriously pondered cutting the course. I can still feel the heat and it's pouring rain here.

Race #4 in the morning. The little jaunt is...a lot. I'll going to pull out my traditional costume. Dopey is special. Dopey is the thing the asthmatic kid (who lives in my head) would never have been able to do. This will be my fourth time. And my costume, the same one I've worn each year...

Half Marathon done. @basilbunny.bsky.social finished. @boysproutluke.bsky.social finished. Loads of folks got excited about seeing Bluey, Bingo and Muffin. I knew they could do it. But I cried a little coming into the finish all time same. Big sib feels. One more little jaunt left tomorrow.

Race #3 this morning. Half marathon, but this one is really special. Got a bunny Bingo and a capybara Muffin doing their first half with me. Really excited to get to share the crazy with them both.

Today's run included multiple comments on my tail. Not a common experience, but kinda fun one all the same.

Last night and today have felt a little like saying goodbye to Jasper again. I gave up a few of his toys I've been holding onto - one of the blankets from his crate. It was time...they've stopped being something that needs to be held on to.

I survived the party; I am bone tired. But I don't want to sleep. If I sleep it'll be tomorrow and I fear tomorrow is going to be a very hard day. If I've seemed off the last few days...or if I seem off tomorrow, just know it isn't personal. It's been a year since I held Jasper for the last time.

The problem with office social events is that they are planned by social people for social people. Which means the folks who don't like social activities have no say and are also not the target audience - but have to pretend they are having a good time all the same. Spoiler: they are not.

6+ hours of driving for a 5 hour department holiday party. My excitement knows no bounds.

Liminal spaces are weird and lovely. For two months I've been working hard prepping for a run of the Wizard of Oz at our local theater. It's fun show, a great part, and a special production. And now it's almost over. 2 months of prep, 8 shows in 9 days. The last three are this weekend.

Mixed feelings today - been thinking a lot about Jasper. His birthday was earlier this month - I didn't really notice. But today's the anniversary of his surgery that saved his life. Somehow it feels like the bigger moment. But I'm excited about Oz...and got a unexpected raise at work. Weird day.
