Moving and having to rebuild your life is quite annoying… the stove is 2 weeks late and not only we can’t cook anything, but also I had to stay home because they MAY deliver it today. This has been going on for some days now… and working from home is uncomfortable, no place to sit properly

My first attempt to return to work since moving back last week... trying to dissipate the fog around my brain (tired, jet lagged, almost sick) and catch up with emails.

I’m locked out of my museum account… cannot access my folders and documents 🤡

Reading the proof of my paper and apparently some of the interpretations we changed for the discussion were not incorporated in the description of the material. Where was my head on?? No idea, but now there will be more changes than anticipated. I’m embarrassed.

Today I filled in the table of the museum with my publications for 2025 and I realised I wasn't so lazy this year as I was feeling like :)

My past two weeks have been alternating between days I try to work in the museum and days I have to spend at home for a move-related reason, which is in itself a task that needs to be accomplished and prevents me to work or I cannot work because my internet just completely sucks in the two months

Morphosource wants me to upload every single surface model as a new media, meaning having to go through a laborious and time consuming process of painstakingly filling in all the information for every single one of them in several steps that take ages to load. For me, a big NOPE.

Two awesome days at the collections of the NHM with Felipe Pinheiro from UNIPAMPA (my last trip for this project)! And today a great start to SVP :)

Now I have to add the famous Last Minute Data for my SVP presentation :)

I have paid the price for the last stressful months.. the nasty cold I had in Beijing actually developed to a strong sinusitis. I had to take most of last week off and I didn't feel fit until now - in fact, I'm still not back to normal, but at least I don't feel defeated anymore.

Back from an amazing trip to China! The secon week was tough due to a nasty flu, that still lingers... but oh so much fun in Beijing and in IVPP! Everyone there was super nice and the fossils are amazing. I hope to be able to go back soon :)

Great weekend touristing in Beijing and around: Forbidden City and Mutianyu Great Wall. Now off to start a week of work at IVPP :)

So today I saw Sinosauropteryx at the Geological Museum of China… I was not expecting and it was like a dream come true. Everything is beautiful about this fossil: the preservation, the pose. I almost chose it as my first tattoo, but I went with Archaeopteryx instead and it remais close to my heart

About marine reptiles, I’m glad I decided to treat several groups separately for my analysis… I already can see differences among them and it will be an improvement to my data matrix

In other news, yesterday I submitted what I hope is the last version of my manuscript and today another important manuscript that I was heavily involved was also submitted. Fingers crossed for both!

Things have been busy, Rudolf’s departure, sickness and holiday disrupted my pre-trip schedule. But all is fine now; my trip to China went well and today is my last day in Wuhan. Things have been incredibly productive and I’m learning more and more about aquatic reptiles.

Today I lost my buddy. I think it were 14 years well lived, over half of which with me after my mom had health issues that prevented her to take care of hiim properly. I hope I was able to give him the best life possible. He will be missed.

When I arrived from Grenoble, I left the fossils in the museum and decided to go straight home without unpacking them. Today I was planning to take off but I was too paranoid whether the fossils were fine, so I came and unpacked them: they’re great and now I’m heading back home cuz I’m so tired

So, all done here in Grenoble. Last night of experiments ran well, despite some disruptions earlier yesterday. We had to repack and reposition one of the fossils for a better scan of the dentary but holy damn was that worth it!

My synchrotron scan keeps crashing. We still have some buffer time to finish all experiments necessary but I have missed half a shift already. This is really unfortunate.

I sent nothing less than 7 emails regarding my visit to China in the past hour and a half. Not even lunchtime yet and I'm mentally gone already.... my head hurts

The amount of people to contact when visiting collections in China can feel overwhelming. I mean, it is in part my fault, as I didn't realise there were THAT MANY different institutions with fossil collections there (mostly marine stuff, which is all new to me).
