Lacking accountability will always be a lose-lose situation. You’re avoidant because you fear the outcome, but your refusal to move in honesty and truth perpetuates the very aspects of your life that you hate (e.g., imbalanced or disingenuous connections, stagnation, etc.).

News Flash: Even if you’re the person investing more into the connection, you’re JUST as responsible for the imbalance and co-dependent nature of the relationship. By not setting boundaries, you’re an active participant in the dynamic. Inability to set boundaries is indicative of a deeper issue.

Everyday I realize that the bar for self-awareness is in the deepest pits of hell. Why are you not regularly assessing your reactions and responses to things? People can understand the concept of studying for a test to get a passing score, but not self-reflection to become a better person.

Shame and guilt are not inherently “bad” emotions; they’re indicators of your capacity to feel and empathize. But responding with deflection and avoidance over accountability and truth indicates a lack of emotional and mental intelligence.
