Big part of the problem is the absolute refusal to recognize how much of mainstream popular culture reinforces conservative frames but do so in a way that isn’t pedantically obvious.

The problem is that “I am often scared and angry about social change” does not inherently lend itself to interesting art. You can be as technically skilled as the greats, but art with nothing interesting to say is just a commodity.

I understand this point but also— libraries are free and inside of them you can learn almost ANYTHING you want to. choosing not to and instead expecting others to do said learning for you and also put it into digestible bites for you… feels much more like willful ignorance and less about lobbying.
