yes, i am a sucker for ‘70s creature-features, but this one hit harder than most. i really, really dug it.

haven’t seen this one since it first came out back in ‘08. i bought this particular copy from the same place i originally rented it (Hollywood Video) when they went out of business.

there’s a Halloween children’s book that my sister and i had as kids (so, from the 80s) that i’ve been trying to find for decades all that i remember about it is there’s a group of kids trick-or-treating that run into a bunch of different monsters who end up trick-or-treating with them…

up early on my day off and watching the 2001 “remake” of How to Make a Monster.

i got a dish of pumpkin and Oreo ice cream, and a first-time watch of 1408. it’s much needed after an eleven-hour workday.

i’ve watched as many movies in the last four days as i did in the entirety of August and September. it’s a pretty clear indication of how bad off i’ve been for a while now. the last three months have been a real struggle and i’m hoping for better days ahead.

i still (very) occasionally find something worthwhile on the grab-bag wall at Savers.

planning on watching Beware of the Blob when i get home from work. it’s a movie that totally freaked me out as a kid for just one scene, and i’m curious to see how that particular kindertrauma holds up.

i stopped by Target before work and picked up a few fun Halloween blankets (the cobweb one glows in the dark!) and a adorable pumpkin pillow. so, i’ve crafted a cozy and creepy spot to unwind and watch movies.

as a latch-key kid who spent too much time in front of the TV after school, nothing brings me back quicker than the opening theme to my favorite cartoons of that era. (see also: Bionic Six, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, BraveStarr, M.A.S.K, and Dinosaucers.)

i read a few issues of Classic X-Men for the first time this morning, and there’s a lot of weird stuff in the back-ups that no one (outside of Claremont himself) has ever revisited.

i think maybe the next time i set up to sell, i’m only going to bring DVDs, tapes, records, and books. and whatever doesn’t sell by the end of the day will just get donated.

it’s crazy that i’ve had this DVD for nearly 24 years. the only remaining disc from Christmas ‘01, when i was gifted my first DVD player. the other titles i got were Spawn (1997) and the first season of The Simpsons.

trying to decide if i want to attempt watching one horror (or horror-adjacent) movie every day from now to October 31st. i’ve managed to do the entire month of October the last couple years, but i’m really tempted to start early.

gearin’ up to do some selling tomorrow. it’s long overdue.

grabbed these at my LCS earlier. they had boxes of 50s/60s/70s sci-fi paperbacks for $2.50 each. i’m not super-familiar with authors and titles from this era, so very interested in any recommendations that folks might have. ‘cause i am already ready to go back and grab more.
