it makes me sad when people seem to have a huge vocabulary for critiquing writing but very few ways to describe what moves them, what they find effective or exciting or memorable, what they love—and why

6 years without my mom. I still have her voicemails, a playlist of her favorite songs, I make the gravy recipe. My bones crack in the morning like hers. I have her smile. The most distance I have, the more similarities sprout from my life. Not a day goes by I don’t miss her. What a way to live 💕
