I'm so sorry to hear of Dan Wickett's passing. We worked together for years at Dzanc Books, and I'm so grateful for all he did for me there and elsewhere. He was a great friend, a brilliant reader, a true advocate for writers. He loved books like no one else. I miss him already, and always will.

I've been on this trail at Green Mountain a dozen times this year, and I had never seen a prairie dog there before, until yesterday. New prairie dog colony just dropped?

For me, revision is a part of figuring out what the book is about, so it makes sense to do some upfront, e.g., better to figure out sooner than later that I'm going to combine two characters. But I know I'll end up tossing out chunks of the early drafts, so I try to save prose polishing for the end.

25 years in Denver, but I had never climbed up Mt Morrison before today. It's a doozy of an ascent, 2k vertical feet in less than 2 miles of trail, but you get tremendous views and along the way you can look down into Red Rocks, as here.
