A bunch of large accounts blocked me during my alt text pile-on. I can still see replies to those blocked posts if I follow the replyer. It kinda sucks to click a post to see what it's replying to only for BLOCKED POST to pop up.

Disability is about deviance from socially expected norms. Which is why Puar among others developed the concept of debility, which focuses on the suffering aspect. Because of how suffering makes us feel J. Smilges calls it crip negativity.

Dr. Sami schalk has been placing k95 masks in those little free libraries. I love this idea for supporting the communities in using masks during poor AGI periods (as well as reducing transmissible diseases). Thinking about how I can do similar where I live.

3. Most importantly, although people think bullying is okay for some transgressions (transphobia particularly) they don’t think bullying is ok for ableism. Although what counts as bullying is not clear to me. Ableism however is a deeply structured issue that has been built into this platform

A few things I’ve learned today 1. People feel that ableism can be separated out from other axises of power (eg sexism, racism, transphobia, etc). They aren’t able to articulate why. 2. People don’t want to feel terrible for engaging in ableism for various reasons (unintentional, forgot etc)

i think sometimes, disenfranchized and marginalized people look for community so that they can have a way of getting back at the world. and i don't blame them for that, but operating exclusively out of spite has diminishing returns.
