Does Michkov take a penalty in the third period every game? Feels like it.

These bad penalty calls are sometimes what wakes the Flyers (and the fans) up in a game like this. Nothing gets them going like a bad call. Instead of getting booed off the ice at the end of the period, it was a stadium wide “ref you suck” chant. A little easier to come out with fire in the 3rd now.

Pierre Maguire made an interesting point on Jeff Marek’s podcast that the Zegras comeback in Philly reminds him directly of the Phil Kessel-Rick Tocchet relationship. He talked about how Toc was able to relate and get through to Kessel in a way that other coaches before him could not.

the *most* egregious make up call I’ve ever seen. Just get the first call right bc sticking to your guns on the first one knowing you’re just going to hunt down a penalty immediately to make up for it on the second one is such a farce.

One of my reasons for optimism regarding the Flyers despite their inconsistent play so far was that they're already putting up wins and a solid record w/neither Michkov or Konecny firing on all cylinders. I assumed they'd both get going eventually. They're both humming tonight.

Please let that shootout winner be the start to a revitalized Travis Konecny. This team’s been on the playoff bubble without Michkov and TK at their best, but when those two are rolling? They’ve got a real shot at the postseason.
