Evening rock pooling paid off when I found this Antiopella cristata amongst the seaweed near Brixham! The only other one Iāve seen was also in June so possibly a good month to find this species. A large nudibranch at about 60mm (3rd photo).

Nature gave my youngest son a brilliant birthday gift today during a short rock pooling session before his beach party- 2 new species for us and both weāve been particularly looking forward to seeing! Two Okenia elegans (Yellow-skirt/Venus Sea Slug) and Discodoris rosi.

Daisy and the kids found this tiny nudibranch in rock pools at Paington today. They didnāt ID it at the time but appears to be Trapania maculata, a very rare species in the UK with only 25 NBN records! I expect weāll be heading back this weekend for another look!

Immigrant Moths in the trap last night: 1-2 Striped Hawk-moth Hyles livornica seen along the southern coasts of England and Ireland in varying numbers. Is this year going to be a good one? 3 is a Small Mottled Willow Spodoptera exigua, 7 in the trap. Also known as Beet Armyworm!

Narrow-bordered Bee Hawkmoths, Hemaris tityus on Dartmoor. Having seen a male flying loops of a patch of rush he eventually landed. I crept over to find a mating pair, the female freshly emerged with her wings still scaled. They were still together 2hrs later when I left!

Nocturnal invertebrate hunting last night on Dartmoor in the Dart Valley. We managed to find 2 of the rare Blue Ground Beetle Carabus intricatus and 4 Violet Oil-beetles Meloe violaceus. Also plenty of amphibians about and a great dusk chorus including a showy Garden Warbler.

Little Dartmouth today. More Oil-beetles (2 Black & 2 Violet), 20+ Red-and-black Froghoppers Cercopis vulnerata, and single Green Hairstreak. Also singing Reed Warbler and Cettiās Warbler surprise birds on the cliff tops. Thanks John Walters for help with Oil-beetle ID over the last few weeks!

Another day rock pooling on Gylly Reef, Falmouth. We had 6 Rainbow Seaslugs Babakina anadoni including a pair with eggs! We didnāt see any until early afternoon at the lowest state of tide. Definitely one of our favourite family wildlife experiences

Green Hairstreak on the wing at Prawle Point, Devon today with 16+ seen on short stretch of coast path west of the point. Also 4 Dotted Bee-fly seen egg ābombingā mining bee nests on the sand cliffs and 6 Black Oil-beetles. Birding was slow with 1 Whitethroat and 6 Swallows.

Caspian Gull showing well in Brixham Harbour this evening from viewing platform near Rockfish. It appears to be the first bird that turned up here in the winter influx that also visited the Axe Estuary last month with distinct pale markings on one side of bill.

Nice walk around Prawle Point today. 6 Wheatear (4m, 2f) on beaches and a Red Kite. Also Adder, Brown Hare and lots of bees. Many Cliff Mining Bees nectaring on Alexanderās, 40-50 Goodenās Nomad Bees (?) and 2 Dotted Bee-fly (Bombylius discolor) on coastal path.

Can anyone help with ID of this gull at Mansands, Devon this morning. It looked good for
