Nice walk around Prawle Point today. 6 Wheatear (4m, 2f) on beaches and a Red Kite. Also Adder, Brown Hare and lots of bees. Many Cliff Mining Bees nectaring on Alexander’s, 40-50 Gooden’s Nomad Bees (?) and 2 Dotted Bee-fly (Bombylius discolor) on coastal path. #devonbirds

My first Wheatears of the year at Berry Head this evening. The kids and their mum saw a black Adder in the quarry that I missed whilst chasing the Wheatears! Also a few more Dark-edged Bee-fly in the garden today #devonbirds #ukbirding

Can anyone help with ID of this gull at Mansands, Devon this morning. It looked good for #CaspianGull as it flew in- neck shawl and white head + tail/rump but underwing was fairly dark. When landed the mantle/scaps quite dark for Casp and wing coverts unusually patterned? #devonbirds #ukbirding

Finally got another Caspian Gull at Mansands marsh after a few weeks of regular checking. High numbers of large Gulls this morning (300-400). It then settled on the hill behind the marsh #ukbirding #devonbirds

Mating Six-belted Clearwings in the quarry at Berry Head this morning! Soon after @jacob-wood.bsky.social and family came and spotted another, so three in all. Shots 2+3 flying low over the ground and 4. on Yellow Rattle. Larval food plants Kidney Vetch + Bird's-foot Trefoil, lots on Berry Head.
