The results are out from the latest @gmcuk trainee survey. Last year the survey asked about sexual harassment for the first time so we were interested to see if there had been any change this year…

While the tribunal’s decision ultimately supported the dismissal, describing unwanted physical conduct as “innocuous” is damaging to victims especially in the context of coercion, intimidation and bullying of resident doctors.

Last week @thebma members voted in favour of a motion for the BMA to lobby for a national reporting system for sexual harassment, mandatory active bystander training, external investigators to assess cases of sexual misconduct and support victims as witnesses in tribunals. And we fully agree!

New data from the GMC shows that for the first time there are now more female than male doctors with a licence to practise in the UK. This is a fantastic achievement and has taken 150 years to reach after women were first allowed to become medical students.
