Every time I speak, my own voice is a reminder of how I didn’t have transition care available (or even cultural awareness of transness as a kid). To say nothing of the other physical traits I have to cope with. Don’t make trans kids go through what we did.

PhD computer scientist here who’s worked on parts of the AI ecosystem. Short answer: no, the hype isn’t true. It’s here to stay, that I’m grudgingly confident of. But the hype is simply wrong. The very, very short answer is these systems are largely just very fancy “nearest neighbor” search.

To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books. She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it. It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.
