2025 is weird if you were born in 1975. Lots of people turn 50, but you would think the perspective of living almost equally in the 20th & 21st Centuries would bring some sort of wisdom. It doesn’t. I can’t make sense of any of it. All I can say is we should be on a different, much better path.

We can learn a lot about the world we live in watching STAR TREK. But some important lessons are about the future, such as: • things get A LOT WORSE before they get better, but • we survive, unite, and explore the galaxy, • and, sadly, human entertainment peaks in the 20th Century.

Finishing up Carl Sagan’s THE DEMON-HAUNTED WORLD (1996). 30 years later, there’s still not enough real science on TV, but his comments re: THE X-FILES turned out kinda wrong when you consider “The Scully Effect.” A whole generation of women studied to be scientists because of Gillian Anderson.

It’s been ages since I’ve cared about a Superman movie. I need my Superman to always be compassionate, fair, and honestly a bit of a dorky Boy Scout (in that order). I don’t need him to be the strong arm of a fascist government. So if Supes gives up “the American way,” that’s 100% appropriate.

Protesting is patriotic. Speaking out is patriotic. Building power is patriotic. Calling your rep is patriotic. Signing petitions is patriotic. Showing up is patriotic.

And so the scared barking begins.
