Nice, concise write-up from

on the ongoing protests against corruption in Serbia, by some estimates the largest student-led movement in europe since the 1960s.

In post-Cold War CEE/Eurasia, there hasn't been a popular protest movement as important as the current one in Serbia that wasn't cultivated and coopted by outside powers. Which explains why the latter are literally speechless about it. By

A must-read - whether or not you care about this part of the world. There is also a lesson here for America (and beyond), it's easy to slide into total corruption and impunity, but takes ages, and is really, really hard to exorcise it. "This is not a revolution but an exorcism."

describing the reality of living with climate change and bad air pollution. And higher temperatures = more air-conditioning = burning more fossil fuels...

Young people are leaving, and those who remain are having fewer children; these trends have brought the Balkans to a point of population collapse.
