Enjoying the first mulled wine of the season. Waiting for the snow to fall tomorrow and coat all the land in soft, white somnolence. Waiting for the calm, gentle grey of overcast skies to close this season of Trinitytide and whisper to us, "Awake, awake, for the King of Kings cometh soon in glory!"

Praise to God, immortal praise, for the love that crowns our days; bounteous source of every joy, let thy praise our tongues employ: all to thee, our God, we owe, source whence all our blessings flow.

More importantly, what's wrong with Cincinnati? Too many east coast and west coast liberals look down on literally the rest of the country and honestly, it's pretty fucking gross.

The sequence hymn from yesterday is a whole word. 🕯️ O God of every nation, of every race and land, redeem the whole creation with your almighty hand; where hate and fear divide us and bitter threats are hurled, in love and mercy guide us and heal our strife-torn world.

Blessed, praised, worshipped, and adored be Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar, and in the hearts and minds of his faithful people. And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. ⚓

Questions for clergy and laity alike: How often does your parish use Rite I, if at all? Do you prefer traditional language over contemporary? Does your congregation seem open to the use of the traditional language option? I would love to meet more Rite I/traditional language enthusiasts. ⚓

Lord, you have searched us out and know us. You know our sitting down and our rising up. You are closer to us than we are to our own hearts. You know our wickedness and our willingness to celebrate the tragedies which befall our enemies.

mercy and grace to the living; pardon and rest to the dead

Sometimes people act as though having the wrong politics leaves an indelible mark on one's soul which nothing can pardon or wash out. Where's the grace in that? It presumes that one is good while one's opponent is evil. The truth is nobody is good but God. Pray endlessly for those who oppose you.

Some days it feels like everything is slowly falling apart, and the only response I get from the world is derision. At times like this, I am thankful that there are at least two who love me: God and my boyfriend.

I'm Captain Lou Albano talkin' to you about drugs. Kids, don't be afraid to say no. Anyone that asks you to use drugs is not your friend. Drugs can and will kill! Remember, don't be afraid to turn to your priest, your rabbi, your minister, your moms, your dads, your teachers because drugs can kill.

I find the search for immortality in this world to be rather futile in the light of the Resurrection. We shall have a far greater immortality in union with Christ than any drugs can procure for us. "We shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." (1 John 3:2)
