Soo I have a doctor’s appt in an hour and temperature outside is -22°C, windchill -29°C. It’s only about a kilometers walk, so a) do I just wear wool long johns under jeans and risk being a bit cold or b) do I put puffy ski pants on top and just striptease them off at doc’s office 🤔

Oh for Pete’s sakes. Yeah yeah, we can cope, we have the well insulated houses with triple glass windows, the woolen long johns and warm coats, but still. January was cold and Feb has started very cold. It gets BORING if you have to pretend every day you’re going on the North Pole.

So as someone who has written a LOT about black bears in particular... This article is incorrect, they DO have collarbones. Just the collarbones aren't hard connected to the sternum like ours are, they're freefloating which makes their shoulders collapsible like mice or rats.

It’s probably not a wise idea, but I’m not completely against the idea of having a black bear hibernate in my basement 🤔

Proper winter weather here, about -12°C. Just back from shoveling snow off my parking space (and car obvs). Luckily snow is what I call Hollywood snow, very light and fluffy ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️I think we officially have 13 cm of snow, so not a lot yet.

Back to work today after 2 weeks off, of course very happy it’s just 1 day before the weekend. I’m procrastinating under duvet as long as possible cos it’s -17°C but I’m on call and should get my arse to office at 8.

I’ve been crocheting a temperature blanket during 2025, just putting in the last rows. The finished measurements will be about 130 cm x 195 cm, 391 rows. I’ll def need to crochet around it as well and will try to hide most of the gazillion yarn ends under there 😊

😒 checked twitter fyp feed, it’s 90 % MAGA 💩, either from official accounts or ”Melania is teh most beautiful and elegant First Lady ever” stuff. It’s a pity, I had a lovely community there, before Musk. Oh well, other socials exist 😊

I’ve seen a lot of ”What has happened in my life in 5 years” posts on socials today. For me, in a way, not much. Same job, same home, still single. And honestly, the covid pandemic years are such a blur that I have to really strain my memory. Especially hard to remember are 2021 and 2022.

I also love books and often buy books that I don’t read right away. I always end up feeling a bit guilty. Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:

Well we have some snow now, and weather has definitely taken a turn towards 🥶 It was +5°C on Christmas Day which is 👎🏻 . There was a big winter storm in Finland on Saturday, there are still over 17000 households without electricity.
