Today I'm thinking about how it's not just the little victories that get us through times like these, but the itty-bitty-teeny-tiny victories, too. Like, I replanted a rubber tree a few weeks ago, and now it's spread out majestically and popped out a new leaf, and when I look at it, it radiates joy.

We report: we know the moon is somewhere up there, busy getting rounder, but we can only tell because of how bright this night is. We can just about find our way, with only minimal tripping on roots. It has not rained in a little while here, and it smells like pine and dust.

We report: the air is a little heavy, and we say something like "what an odd kind of weather" to our expert, and they reply something like "isn't it just". It does not feel like rain, but it is hard to imagine how else the weather could resolve. Dandelion seeds catch in our hair.

With Andor Season 2 dropping tomorrow, it's worth recalling that Season 1 contained the best bit of writing ever in Star Wars.

We report in the blue: we think it is capital to spend some time in the blue whenever possible. The blue evens everything out, fills in the cracks and quiets down the other shades too. We think we could take the blue with us to the end of the world, a lovely thing to keep.

We report: the way this sunset is going, we think that we have enough light remaining for another day. We could simply pretend that this is not a sunset, and perhaps the sun would even rise back up a little bit. We would try, even, if we were not so eager to go to sleep.

We report while the night is thickening, darkness grabbing at our feet. A few stars have caught onto the bare branches of a tree, taking the place of leaves for a moment. Meanwhile, our expert is disturbing the peace by winding up their faltering dynamo torch every few minutes.

We report on the first day of the year: it seems the weather is all over the place already, perhaps as a way to avoid blank page syndrome. Still early in the day, and we have seen fog, and rain, and wind. Now the sky is just beginning to clear, a spot of sunshine in the cold.

We report: it is very, very early in the morning, and we have all but forgotten why we are even awake. It has to be the coldest night ever recorded, whatever our expert says. The culprit is, as it often is, the humidity. The stars bravely pierce through the fog.

We report on the day of the winter solstice: the whole event almost passed us by, which is a common issue on the shortest day of the year. It was a good thing, then, that we were able to witness a brief, faint rainbow. A little something to remember this solstice by.

We report about these dusk-tinged days around the solstice. They are brittle little things, the wobbly light threatening to go out upon the smallest disturbance. We go about our afternoon with careful steps, lest the whole things blinks out. The soft clouds stretch forevermore.

We report in the late morning: we thought the fog would be all gone by now, but it has barely lifted at all. It seems that we have traded the wind for more humidity - certainly a big change. Frost clings to the grass in some spots, making for a fascinatingly crunchy walk.

We report under remarkably weighty skies, in the early evening. It has been raining on and off through this whole day, and yet the clouds that have shown up from behind us announce substantial precipitation to come. We hear the presage of a hail shower in the distance.

We report: the days are shorter and shorter, the clouds are speeding across the sky, and we keep finding dead leaves in our hair when we come home. Autumn is giving way to winter with each drop of the thermometer, and each gust of wind in our ears. The sky is burning out.

We report: we spend so much time trying to be at the right moment, at the right place, that we sometimes forget about good things happening by chance. The sunset snuck up on us, and it almost upset us, that it looked so nice, that we had not anticipated it. We felt happy.
