Did you know? MediEvil's dev team had a stuffed camel toy called Calvin the Camel. He was brought into the office by James Busby who got him through a Cadbury chocolate competition. Calvin appears in the promotional team photo and he's also listed in the credits in PAL region versions of MediEvil.

Did you know? This naval flag seen in MediEvil 2's Greenwich is of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA). This flag design with a vertical gold anchor was introduced in 1969. Prior to its introduction, RFA vessels wore a flag with a horizontal gold anchor instead.

Did you know? A book found in the museum in MediEvil 2 (which takes place in 1886) mentions a kraken being caught off the coast of Bognor Regis. In the real world, Bognor only earned the suffix "Regis" (of the King) in 1929 after King George V spent several months at a seaside resort there.

Did you know? The cats seen in The Asylum Grounds level in MediEvil were originally animated statues. They were changed into real cats in the 2019 remake of the game. The black cat is based on the cat of one of the remake's developers.

This iconic demo disc trailer of MediEvil from early 1998 shows off several cut levels and a plethora of differences from the final game. Direct comparisons between this trailer and other versions of MediEvil are available on Gallowpedia. See the link in the next post.

Look at this very old trailer for MediEvil, dating back to March 18, 1997. Possibly the earliest surviving footage of the game. The version shown off here is known as "MediEvil Milestone 1B.2."

Check out these animals that can be found within the files of a pre-release version of MediEvil! It is unknown what purpose they would have served, but based on them having only one animation, it seems they were purely background elements.

Did you know? Early MediEvil 2 concept art featured a very different Princess Kiya, with a more skeletal appearance, shaggy hair, and Victorian clothing. What do you think about this version of her?

Did you know? Although the Iron Slugger boxing match in MediEvil 2 is always six rounds long, Princess Kiya is programmed to be able to hold up signs beyond that, including numbers 7, 8, 9, and the letter X (used for all rounds beyond round 9). These can be seen by hacking the game.

Did you know? The font used for MediEvil's logo is called Ticonderoga. The Japanese edition of the game uses a modified version of a font called Harrington instead.

Did you know? The painting above Mr and Mrs Mad's bed in the introductory cutscene of the original MediEvil is of Sir Dan standing at the edge of a cliff in the Jabberwocky chase cutscene. The painting does not appear in the 2019 remake of the game.
