The situation for women in Tunisia will remain unchanged if world leaders continue to sit and ponder at the fact that it could be worse, using the gender apartheid in Afghanistan to support their claims. But in Tunisia, despite being influenced by the Sunni Maliki Islamic tradition, Sharia law still anchors the countryâs debates on womenâs rights.

The Mayor of the Libyan city Kufra, Abdul Rahman Aqoub, has made a statement claiming that the number of refugees in the city exceeds 61,000, which was the original population of Kufra, according to the Libya Observer on July 27th. Aqoub noted that due to the constant flow of refugees into Libya the statistics and figures are not accurate, and explained that due to the war in neighbouring Sudan the city is receiving Sudanese refugees on a daily basis.
