Thanks to the influence of this film so many years ago I have reimagined the Mfecane like this and set it in a fantasy 1930s/40/50s level of Dieselpunk technology. Thought about the same but with an altnernate First Gundam in a similair setting. And the same for: 戦国時代を架空の1930年代に置き換えている。

Even here it is completely understood that Link/Zelda are supposed to have long pointed ears. I do not disagree that Lodoss and by extension Izubuchi and the works that directly inspired him played a big part in popularising pointed ears further in JPN fantasy related but its not the only source.

Translating Tomino is quite interesting, especially when you see him fixate on a topic and run with it across his works. His dabbling in religion (for me) starts in the V Gundam novels, then jumps ship to his "Spirit of the King" trilogy. I translated the prologue because I've always been curious.

A 70's example of a "beam struggle" from Zero Tester episode 44 (1974.) (YAS is credited doing genga and Ishiguro for storyboards for this episode.) [That term "beam struggle" is something fans of Dragon Ball tend to use more.]

This is from Dragon Ball #46 [Blue's introduction] and Gundam ZZ #45. The Dragon Ball episode only aired 3 days before the ZZ one.
