Some more progress on my latest environment piece inside Unreal Engine 5. I started bringing in the wooden barriers/spikes in to engine. I need to finish them tomorro with some ropes to tie them up. Also started on some debris meshes to scatter around. More updates tomorrow!

I often think about Jonathan Cooper's posts about TLOU2, that the studio ran out of seasoned game animators because its reputation was so bad and thus had to hire film folks who had to be taught how to put games together.

My latest personal work was running the Timmy Day 2025 event which involved several months of environmental art & animating cinematics for a large stream event.

I say this with utmost respect, but Taylor is an absolute tool for saying this privately or publicly. I can say on good authority that it takes 7 to 10 years to develop game development skills to “good enough” to produce commercial game content. 7-10 years plus the cost of a university education.

I've recently upgraded my portfolio and add screenshots of my materials and blueprint. I crated a blueprint for the portal in order to speed up my iteration phase. For the color iteration I used color curves. #UnrealEngine #shaders #video #VFX
