I’m also in the middle of the second season of Andor. So all in all the day started with some lows of storytelling but then shot back up to being awesome

In other news and with fortuitous timing, I finished the Good Place. Which is a very good show. It’s so consistent through the whole run and with a clear consistent vision. The story evolves so much and yet always has the same heart.

I want to see someone truly, earnestly justify the ending of Part 2 as being great. The best I’ve seen is how it’s good despite all the things holding it back

The thing that kept Denji going in the eternity dimension was the memories of those precious to him. I’d be pissed if those memories were yanked away from me

The only two manga I read as they were coming out were Chainsaw Man Part 2 and the last 40 or so chapters of Attack on Titan. Needless to say, I’m probably never reading an ongoing series ever again

Part 2 being the supposed ending pisses me off so much because Part 1 had an honest to god conclusive ending. There are tons of series that go on for too long but didn’t end as definitively as CSM did. So for it to have kept going and have an ending like that feels like a giant waste of time

I’ve seen this quote thrown around a bunch to defend the ending, but the problem is Pochita literally tells Denji that he never developed at all over the course of the series, and ends with him stuck with a choice he didn’t make

Chainsaw Man Part 1: This ending is so great, but why is it continuing? Part 2: This ending is terrible, there HAS to be a continuation right?

Anyways I will always love Chainsaw Man. My faith in Fujimoto as a storyteller is why I’m filled with this bizarre mixture of disappointment and copium

The Eva rebuild movies really killed my love for outside meta narratives. If I need outside knowledge to make a piece of media make sense or conclude satisfactory, then it’s a bad story

If someone ready Chainsaw Man Part 1 and asked me if they should read Part 2, I would say no. Not right now. As soon as a follow up is announced, that answer would immediately change to an enthusiastic yes

As an ending to a “Part 2”, I love the ending. As an ending to the series, they added more content to the story to then not conclusively or satisfying wrap up the story and loose ends from either parts

I don’t think Fujimoto would leave the chainsaw hook if there wasn’t any plans to eventually do a part 3. But I think he wants to make people mad at him for two years before he picks it up again
