I also, fwiw, find that one of the more frustrating blockers to writing is when there’s already a (bad) suggestion of what you should say. You are no longer able to organically find the idea because the suggestion in front of you knocks you off the track of your natural thought process.

Recently finished the Gogmagog duology and can’t recommend them enough. Gorgeously surreal, alternate-universe post-war London, where the worldbuilding is the draw but the rich prose is what hooks you. The best written fantasy I’ve read in a long while.

It’s pretty much all mismanagement. Adopting new tech prematurely? Mismanagement. Changing creative direction in production? Mismanagement. Iterating on content 3+ times? Mismanagement. Adding major features in production? Mismanagement. Poor planning, failure to follow plans - all mismanagement.

I have a lot of concerns about the lack of credit given to outsourcers, and the casual erasure of that credit by folks in industry who absolutely know better. But this goes further, we need to take responsibility when this stuff is outed, and take reasonable steps to keep it away from our projects.

the number of times i've had to ask devs if they were trying to reinvent the wheel or rediscover fire is crazy the instinct to spend 6 months rewriting something for marginal gains while the rest of the team can't touch any content connected to it is generally Very Bad
