To do this, anti-trans lawmakers in Kansas moved fast to change the law, overrode the governor’s veto, and pushed for the legal changes to go into effect nearly immediately. That kind of power—to void gender on official documents, to compel gender conformity—is terrifying and it will not stop here.

I had a dream I worked at another start up with a lot of former startup co-workers. They got together and got me a cart of books, a bag of pastries, and everyone thrifted a shirt for me! Someone had still left a rotting pumpkin in the supply closet

Like there’s a ton of individual issues but the broader problem is that there’s an assault on giving a shit about anyone besides yourself, nihilism that tells people the only way to prevent getting hurt is to hurt enough other people and that sickness is filtering into the bones of everything.

I would really like to have a mid-life crisis but the Raised Lutheran part of me keeps on tut-tutting about how impractical that is. Plus I dont have any ideas. Plus the country is crumbling around us.

Amazing thread, love learning about Joe, human beings can be so cool. I also think everyone driving an ambulance across France in WWI was a teenager (my great uncle was)!

I think in these times it's important to have a favorite type of goose. Mine is currently the white Chinese goose, which is a type of knob goose with a big knob on it's head that lays a lot of eggs.
