Watched Ordinary People again. Holy shit, Robert Redford. First directing job & he hit it out of the park. Mary Tyler Moore was astoundingly good. It was risky & brilliant of him to see her in that role. It's such a quietly devastating movie, it's easy to forget how mind blowingly good it is.

Just a reminder: they were never actually against cancel culture. They were against the cancellation of people they agree with or like. They’ve always been enthusiastically in favor cancelling people they don’t like. If you took them at their word you’re a useful idiot.

A reporter just asked the U.S. president a perfectly legitimate question about his attorney general's vow to prosecute people for constitutionally protected speech. He responded by threatening to prosecute the reporter. The threat itself is an abuse of power. It ought to be an impeachable offense.

This happened in the Free Speech circle where students gather to discuss & debate. I went to Tech during the run up to the Iraq war & I spent hours in this spot & some convos I had there I remember to this day cause they changed me forever. It’s called FREE SPEECH CIRCLE.
