New paper out today on a cyclic peptide which interacts with CD59, a protein that inhibits the complement mediated membrane attack complex. Some cool structural work went into this, modelling the cyclic peptide was an interesting challenge. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1...

Anyone ever grown circular protein crystals before? Taking bets on the space group.

Has anyone ever had their PEG 10,000 refuse to dissolve? I've got a user who can't make a 20% w/v solution because it just turns into paste. It should be soluble at 500g/L at 20 degrees C (50%) and I've checked their maths and it's correct.

Kili has no respect for the structural integrity of bridges. Just 2 rungs left before we can't legally call this a bridge anymore.

Good morning from Nori and Kili.

Even more crystal growing success in the facility today! We've gone from tiny hexagonal disks to large hexagonal rods thanks to repeated seeding.

We have gone from clusters to single crystals for this project! Just needed a little bit of poison and considerably less precipitant. Now to make many many more of them.

Over 3250 signatures now and still rising. One more week to go.

Anyone got any ideas what animal this bone might be from?
