Update from Minneapolis: Being a teacher is hard, and it is extra rough right now. The kids are struggling, and still there is joy. We hold the despair & pain and try to uplift & support. In the moments between, we’re learning math together. Feeling exhausted, heartbroken, & inspired. Many tears. 🖤

Notes from a new-ish educator in this timeline: 1. Definitely burnt out. 2. Technology sucks, and the kids are always the best. 3. Data makes decision-making so much easier however, effective data tracking is an underdeveloped skill for most educators. 4. Intervention is easier at Tier 1.

being an educator in this timeline is the lowest of lows, feeling shredded by an archaic system that is designed with sharp edges made to exhaust & extract, while simultaneously exalting in the joyful existence of youth being radical & unapologetically hopeful. what a joy to see them thrive.

finding some of the Minneapolis folks that we followed on that other place has made this weird sky feel a bit more like a murmuration we used to know.

definitely think what we’re experiencing is autistic burnout, however no one around is familiar with it. feeling panicked - our crashout rn means a huge loss, & I don’t know what would happen. fellow autistics - what has helped recover from burnout? for context/ we work in education.
