Ending my 3 day working week with almost no lessons planned for next week was not how I thought this week was going to go. I would love just one day of planning to get more on top of things. Teaching 2 new qualifications and no parallel lessons has made my workload explode. 🤯

In #MathsToday A level yr 1 enjoyed starting their Indices topic off with this maze. A level maths is rapidly becoming my favourite lesson to prepare for with so many great resources available. They also enjoyed tackling @mathsjem.bsky.social’s exponential equations. Thanks for all the help!

In #MathsToday I am continuing to be impressed with the #CoreMaths platform resources, we developed some spreadsheet skills while looking at risk of diseases in the form 1 in n, as a probability, and as a rate per 100,000. 1/2

In #MathsToday in #CoreMaths we looked at the risk of dangerous sports, comparing an initial judgment with the 1 in n risk from data. A great resource from the core maths platform. They were surprised the risk was greater for marathon running than bungee jumping.

Can’t wait to take my kids to this 😀

In #MathsToday I taught my first ever #CoreMaths lesson looking at the benefits of studying core maths and some fermi estimation such as how many tennis balls are used at Wimbledon 🎾 Lots new for me this year with my first #AlevelMaths lesson too, we began with some short problem solving tasks.

Needed a new project so I’ve decided to make worksheets and accompanying videos to review each Unit of the GCSE Maths course. Unit 1 Higher (Number) just went LIVE on YouTube. I actually think these would be really powerful as a cover lesson. Bit.ly/gcsemathsH1Vid

Spent a slightly painful 15 minutes discussing Q2 with Y12 today. The problem wasn’t with spotting the patterns, but trying to formulate that into full sentences. If you teach #ALevelMaths, I’d be interested to know how your students get on with similar “describe and explain” tasks. #MathsToday
