I kind of want Arsenal to finish the season with no player in double figures for goals scored and win the title just to spite that truism.

I don't know how you can look at the results that keep happening and conclude anything other than this is Arsenal's year. And I don't even believe in fate or destiny but if it was City or Liverpool in our position getting these results, you know that's what we'd believe anyway.

That result is merciless, in terms of head vs. heart relations. Head says on most occasions we win, but heart screams we came up really small. Head says chill, we increased our lead over City, heart screams fuck off we should be nine clear of them. A scoreline that does nobody any emotional good.

Not athletes, not machines, but people. Per Mertesacker was the perfect person to lead the development of hundreds of teenagers. Arsenal have been lucky to have him and whoever replaces him needs to continue leading the academy with the same priorities in mind.
